A day out antiquing is always magical, but being surrounded by beautiful countryside and little villages really just takes it next level! The Southern Highlands, about 1.5 hours south of Sydney are simply superb, we stopped in at Bowral and through to the little hamlet of Berrima for a day of treasure hunting.
The first place we stopped in at was Lancelot Hill Antiques, the store feels as though you are on a winding street of shops, feels a bit like the Shambles of York.
Curiosities abound, with antique medical pieces and old post office equipment all displayed beautifully. There is even Black and White Tudor inspired mini rooms to explore. It truly is a treasure trove, head over to their website to read their fascinating about section here.
Next walk along the street a little further and you will come to ‘Dirty Janes Emporium & Antique Market’ (located on Bong Bong Street, Bowral.) Again it seems like a never ending series of different rooms, full of antique jewelry, clothes, books, and amazing furniture. Keep walking through to the back of the store and you come to a beautiful gardening section, with trimmed topiary and rustic garden features.
Head over the Dirty Jane’s website here to read about who Dirty Jane is and her fascinating history, it is worth a read.
The next section of this shop is a collaborative space, with lots of small antique and vintage stores under one big roof…and yes it is heaven. It was created by Jane from Crowley & Grouch the staff are so friendly and helpful and I love the displays the creative owners have put together. You can definitely find a one of a kind piece here to remind you of your lovely day out in the Southern Highlands.
